Low cost pollution sensors have been widely publicised, in principle offering increased information on the distribution of air pollution.

This paper reports laboratory studies of commonly used electrochemical sensors and quantify a number of cross interferences with other atmospheric pollutants. It highlights the need to characterise and calibrate all sensors fully with good reference instruments and the potential application of machine learning approaches for future analysis.
